CMI Toyota has proudly been involved in Planet Ark’s National Tree Day since 1999. This year we were excited to celebrate this fantastic initiative once again with Toyota Australia, who also marked their 25th year as the major sponsor.
National Tree Day has grown into Australia’s largest community tree planting and nature care event since starting in 1996. Each year, more than 300,000 volunteers take part in this incredible initiative, with 27 million trees planted by five million volunteers nationwide since 1996.
Each year, the last Friday and last Sunday in July are dedicated to Schools Tree Day and National Tree Day. During Schools Tree Day, thousands of students and teachers across Australia participate in environmental activities that inspire and educate students on the many benefits of trees and connecting with nature.
This year, the CMI Toyota team were excited to assist the National Tree Day activities at North Adelaide Primary School and Kilkenny Primary School.
Students at both schools enjoyed coming together with their classmates to learn about planting trees and shrubs, and using teamwork to establish as many plants around their school as possible.
It was great to see so many of the students and our team roll up their sleeves with so much enthusiasm and excitement, and get their hands dirty to help the environment and support their local community.
After all the hard work by the students at North Adelaide Primary School, the CMI Toyota team treated the volunteers to a delicious BBQ and refreshments to say thanks for their incredible job in the garden.
We also proudly displayed Toyota’s first all-electric vehicle, the bZ4X, and the HiLux GR Sport on the school grounds which attracted a lot of attention!
We would like to thank all of the students and teachers at North Adelaide Primary School and Kilkenny Primary School for their support and participation in Schools National Tree Day.
As well as the activities for Schools Tree Day, in celebration of National Tree Day on Sunday, July 29, local community members, Hackham Scout Group and Rotary Club of Morphett Vale set out to plant approximately 400 seedlings, plus staked, mulched and watered in their local community garden - Vintners Walk Butterfly Garden.
It was wonderful to see so many community members get involved and get their hands dirty for this amazing initiative.
Toyota’s long-standing partnership with Planet Ark’s National Tree Day is one that aligns with their commitment to reach net zero CO2 emissions by 2050. Toyota is continually working towards a more sustainable motoring future as global leaders in environmental research and technologies to create a more sustainable future for the community around us.
The team at CMI Toyota are proud to be able to join Toyota Australia in giving back to the community and engaging in environmental activities, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year!
