Doris the RAV4 – An Update

The incredible people behind the Hutt St Centre have been busy putting Doris the RAV4 to work with wonderful case managers such as Andy!
 

The team at CMI Toyota were excited to receive another update on Doris the RAV4, an integral member of the Hutt St Centre team thanks to our partnership with this fantastic charity, and our commitment to supporting life-changing organisations across South Australia. 

The latest update features case manager, Andy and his work with Doris. A major part of Andy’s role as case manager is to help those struggling with homelessness to find a safe and permanent home, and to create a sense of homefulness there.

But as anyone who’s had to move house will tell you, it can be a HUGE undertaking!

“Moving day is always exciting but it can be overwhelming too,” says Andy.

“This is especially true for people who’ve experienced homelessness and are ready for a fresh start.”

That’s where Doris plays an important role! The large boot space of the RAV4 allows Andy and the team to deliver much-needed essentials to help people settle into their new homes. 

“Helping people who are recently housed is a vital part of their journey towards homefulness.

Being able to support them with new linen and bedding, pots and pans, kitchen appliances and other household essentials is a practical way to make sure they have everything they need to feel at home.”

The Hutt St Centre team say Doris is a hard and reliable worker, on the road every day, doing her miles to support people on their journey out of homelessness.

The incredible team at the Hutt St Centre help those facing homelessness, assisting with both their immediate and long term needs, from providing a meal and a shower, to sourcing housing and employment. Their mission is to empower and support those at risk of experiencing homelessness so they may rebuild their lives on their pathway to ‘homefulness’. 

The team at CMI Toyota commend Andy and the Hutt St Centre team on all the selfless and transformative work they are undertaking with the vulnerable in our community. We are extremely proud to see that Doris is able to have such a positive impact on the charity and the lives it touches.
