We were thrilled to receive an update from the Hutt St Centre team about their new RAV4, ‘Doris’ and Occupational Therapist, Gabrielle.
In her role at Hutt St Centre, Gabrielle supports people with a disability who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. That is around 18% of people who seek Hutt St Centre’s support each month and can result in Gabrielle often being on the road five days per week.
From visiting people in their new homes to supplying adaptive equipment, it’s essential that Gabrielle can be out in the community helping people wherever they are - That’s where Doris the Toyota RAV4 comes in!
Thanks to CMI Toyota’s partnership with Hutt St Centre, Doris ensures Gabrielle is able to easily connect with clients and provide the support they need to live independently.
“Supporting people through Occupational Therapy means helping them to live independently in their own environment,” says Gabrielle. “For people who are housed, that means providing occupational therapy (OT) assessments to ensure they can manage day to day tasks, and feel safe and comfortable in their home or out in the community.
“And for people who are rough sleeping, our support involves discussing their needs and goals for the future, building their capacity to live independently, providing OT assessments in housing advocacy, and connecting them to further supports. Doris even helps me transport people to their appointments.”

Doris the RAV4 also ensures Gabrielle's safety whilst out on the roads thanks to the inclusion of the latest technology and safety features, including Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, Toyota Safety Sense and Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The CMI Toyota team are extremely proud to support the vital work Hutt St Centre do within our community. To know that our support ensures people with a disability who are experiencing homelessness have the assistance to rebuild their lives is extremely important and brings a ‘CMI-le’ to our faces!
