What is the CMI Toyota Automotive Apprenticeship Program?
The CMI Toyota Apprentice Program has been running for nearly 20 years and each year, CMI Toyota employs a number of highly motivated individuals to take part in an intensive Toyota specific Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
The apprenticeship program, delivered in partnership with TAFE SA, is conducted at the purpose-built CMI Toyota Technical Training Centre and is complimented by specialised in-house training programs.
Training is overseen by CMI Toyota’s Technical Training Manager, in conjunction with workplace mentors.

How to apply
Applications open in October each year for the January intake. For applications sent at other times of the year, these will be kept on file for consideration during the next intake and shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Each year, we take pride in having the opportunity to welcome our new apprentice mechanics and celebrate our auto technician graduates at the CMI Toyota Apprentice Awards evening.
Our apprentices and graduates, along with their special customers are invited to join us at CMI Toyota West Terrace for a night to welcome our new apprentices into the program and celebrate our graduates, plus introduce and thank our mentors.

What does an automotive technician do?
Automotive Technicians primarily service and repair motor vehicles and the major components of a motor vehicle including engines, transmissions, suspension and electrical systems.
With rapid changes in the automotive environment, the next generation of technicians will need to maintain, diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles within the Toyota range which include modern technologies such as hybrid technology, engine management systems and advanced vehicle safety systems.
What are my career opportunities with CMI Toyota?
CMI Toyota is a key subsidiary of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd (CMV Group). The CMV Group has been trading since 1934, operating a range of well-known vehicle franchises in South Australia and Victoria.
