Next-generation C-HR small SUV to be available in Australia with hybrid powertrain only
All-new model to arrive in Australia in H1, 2024
Hybrid C-HR forms part of 50 per cent electrified sales target by 2025
We have exciting news! Toyota Australia has confirmed the second-generation C-HR small SUV will be offered exclusively with a hybrid powertrain, reflecting the brand's commitment to lowering the carbon footprint of its vehicles.
The decision also reflects the ever-increasing customer demand for hybrid vehicles, with Australian customers purchasing a record 72,815 electrified Toyotas in 2022, representing 31.5 per cent of the brand's overall sales.
Toyota Australia has said it expects electrified vehicles to account for more than 50 per cent of its sales by 2025.
Globally, the new-generation C-HR will only be available with Toyota's popular self-charging hybrid technology as well as a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant. Toyota Australia currently has no plans to introduce the PHEV variant to the Australian market.
In addition to reducing the CO2 emissions of its vehicles, Toyota Motor Corporation is also targeting carbon neutrality in all its facilities by 2030.
These measures include the introduction of new paint shop technologies which minimise CO2 emissions and the use of solar energy which aims to make plants self-sufficient in their energy use.
More details about the new-generation C-HR will be revealed closer to its local introduction in the first half of 2024.
