Christmas Game Rules
The Oven Mitt Game
How to play:
- Prepare the game: Wrap a gift multiple times with layers of wrapping paper and tape. The more layers, the longer it will take to unwrap. You'll also need a pair of oven mitts and two dice.
- Gather players: Have everyone sit in a circle.
- Start the game:
- Give the oven mitts and the gift to one person.
- Give the two dice to the person to their left.
- On "go," the player with the oven mitts begins unwrapping the gift, using only their mitted hands.
- Pass the items:
- The person with the dice keeps rolling until they roll doubles.
- As soon as doubles are rolled, they pass the dice to the next person to their left.
- The person who just rolled the dice takes the oven mitts and the gift.
- Continue playing: The game continues, with players unwrapping the gift with oven mitts while the person to their left rolls the dice for doubles.
- End the game: The player who unwraps the final layer of the present keeps the prize.
Bow Scoop
How to play:
- Prepare the game:
- Blindfold: Players must be blindfolded throughout the game.
- Spread out bows on the table and give each player a plate/bowl and spatula.
- Play:
- Set a timer for 30 seconds and see how many bows they can scoop onto the plate/bowl using the spatula.
- Use only a spatula: Players are only allowed to use the spatula to scoop the bows. Using hands is prohibited.
- No sweeping: Players cannot use sweeping motions; they must scoop and dump bows into the bowl.
- End the game: Whoever gets the most bows at the end of the 30 seconds wins!
Candy Cane Fishing
How to play:
- Prepare the game:
- Two teams of max four people.
- Set up two cups with four candy canes inside on one table, and two bottles on another table a few metres away.
- Players must each have string tied around their heads with candy cane tied upside down on the other end, at about chest height.
- Play:
- First person from each team must use the candy cane tied to their head to ‘fish’ out a candy cane from their respective cups, and place it into their bottles.
- Then, the next team member can start.
- End the game: First team to transfer all four candy canes from their cup to their bottle wins!
Ornament Roll
How to play:
- Prepare the game: Give each player an ornament and a ‘fan’ (can be a box lid, placemat, etc.) and have players stand behind a line. Tape another line across the room (best done in a large empty room).
- Play: Players must fan their ornament to get it to roll across the room and over the other line. Players can’t actually touch the ornament with the fan, just use it to create wind to “blow” it.
- End the game: First player with an ornament to reach the finish line wins!
Musical Candy Canes
How to play:
- Prepare the game:
- Have players stand evenly around a table.
- Place one less candy cane on table than number of participants.
- Play:
- When Christmas music starts, players must walk/dance around the table.
- When the music stops, each player must grab a candy cane from the table.
- The player without a candy cane is eliminated
- End the game: repeat until there is a winner!
